3 Signs Your Spouse Might Be Cheating

Like all marriages, yours has had its share of ups and downs, but you’ve never suspected your spouse of cheating – until now.

Is there really something going on? Are you just imagining things? How do you tell? Therapists say that it’s important to “trust your gut,” since that’s often where people process information they’re seeing on a subconscious level. If your gut just isn’t communicating clearly enough, however, here are some potential signs that your spouse is unfaithful:

They’re very focused on your schedule and vague about their own

If your spouse is suddenly checking in on your schedule more than usual but “forgetting” to let you know where they’re going and when they’re going to be home, that’s often a sign that they’re maneuvering the schedules so they can sneak around.

They’ve changed the way they use their phone

Does your spouse seem glued to their phone when they’re home but often unreachable when they’re not? Has your spouse started taking their phone with them into the bathroom when they shower? Do they seem aggravated if you even pick their phone up, or have they changed their passcode? All of these are indications that they may be using their phone to communicate with someone else on the sly.

They get defensive when you ask about changes

People (and relationships) do change over time, so the fact that your spouse is taking a renewed interest in their appearance or exercising again isn’t necessarily a sign of concern. However, if you’re met with hostility when you ask about why they’re hitting the gym every night or what’s causing work to run late so often, that’s a cause for concern. If there’s a simple answer, there’s no reason for defensiveness.

If your spouse is cheating, it probably won’t take you long to find out the truth. At that point, it may be time to explore your divorce options.
